My titles are less and less interesting, yet I find that I have no other words to express my feelings right now. I don’t even remember the last time that I wrote on my blog, and it’s not because I’m avoiding it – it’s simply the fact that time is passing so quickly, I find it hard to find the time to write my monthly newsletters, let alone write in this blog. Yet I’m absolutely loving my time here : I’ve found a new family in my 2nd host family, I’ve strengthened my relationships with my friends (midnight adventures exploring the streets of France, going to a soccer match in the rain, celebrating my host dad’s birthday with all of the family, exploring several chateaux in the area, going skiing (and going down three hills on my back)… in short, I’ve learned to really live here. I haven’t necessarily explored the grandes villes de France – I haven’t visited Dijon or Marseille or Bordeaux or Nice or the other grandes villes, but I really live here, I complain about my classes like the French, I play games with my host family like I was really French, I go to local soccer matches, see local concerts…
Friday is already the time for me to change host families ! From my past experience with changing host families, I know that my 3rd family will be wonderful, but it’s going to hard to leave the Bourgs. Luckily we’re already talked about how they will come to visit me in LA, and they invited me to go with them on vacation this summer (they think they’re going to go to the coast in Spain for 1 week with my host uncle, aunt, and cousins (and on the way down, stop at some prehistoric caves and on the way up stop at Montpellier). Just the fact that they invited me is wonderful
My grandparents and sister will be coming to visit at the end of May, so I’m excited to see them again! We’ll be travelling a bit in Germany and the Netherlands, and afterwards with just my sister in Belgium, the North of France, and maybe even one city on the coast of England (if we can find a good deal on ferry tickets). Afterwards I’ll be going on the Eurtotour, where we’ll visit Paris, Strasbourg, Nuremberg, Vienna, Venice, Milan, Prague, et Chamonix. After that, I’ll be going for 1 week in the North of France (Normandie, Mout St Michele, etc) with my Rotary counselor and another exchange student.
In May, I have a concert for music (unfortunately, it’s at the same time as the National Championships of Futsal (indoor soccer) in France, which I have to miss because I have several solos in the concert)… but I know it’s a good problem to have.
Thank you all for everything. I will say that I hope to give a more detailed report, but I would advise you not to hold your breath, because I don’t know when I’ll have the time.
Merci beaucoup. C’est drôle de voir que maintenant c’est plus difficile de parler en anglais que en français, même si je sais que je fais les fautes en français. Parler en français, ça me manquera quand je reviens aux États-Unis..
